We Want to Hear From You

Mama Certified is collecting feedback from Black women and birthing people about their labor and delivery experiences at Cincinnati-area hospitals. Your voice helps hold hospitals accountable and improve care for every mama.

As part of the Mama Certified Birthing Experience Study, we’re asking eligible participants to complete a 15-20 minute confidential survey. Your insights will help hospitals provide more respectful, informed and supportive care to Black birthing people.

To participate in this survey, you must:

  • Identify as a Black or African American mama or birthing person

  • Be 18 years of age or older

  • Have given birth at a participating Cincinnati hospital between September 2024 and now

Participants who complete the survey will receive a $50 Visa gift card as a thank you.

2025 Birthing Experience Report: What Black Mamas & Providers Told Us

In response to calls from Black mamas for greater transparency and accountability in care, Mama Certified launched the Birthing Experience Study led by Dr. Dorian Odems. With over 240 Black women and birthing people and 10 hospital-based providers participating, this report lifts up opportunities to improve birthing care experiences.

Together, patients and providers identified three key priorities for improving care: Structural Change, Provider Training, and Patient Power.

This report isn’t just data—it’s direction. It will guide Queens Village Hospital Advisory Boards as they co-create solutions that center Black mamas' voices and experiences.
