2025 Birthing Experience Report: What Black Mamas & Providers Told Us
In response to calls from Black mamas for greater transparency and accountability in care, Mama Certified launched the Birthing Experience Study led by Dr. Dorian Odems. With over 240 Black women and birthing people and 10 hospital-based providers participating, this report lifts up opportunities to improve birthing care experiences.
Together, patients and providers identified three key priorities for improving care: Structural Change, Provider Training and Patient Power.
This report isn’t just data — it’s direction. It will guide Queens Village Hospital Advisory Boards as they co-create solutions that center Black mamas' voices and experiences.
